The Red Cross helps local people to remain independent in their own homes by:
> Supporting people as they settle back into a routine in their homes following an illness, accident or stay in hospital.
> Loaning medical equipment such as wheelchairs and commodes.
> Helping people to get out of the house, to appointments, to the shops or to see
friends.
> Assisting in pain and stress relief by providing gentle hand, neck and shoulder
massage.
>  Teaching people how to disguise skin disfigurements from illness or accident.

Going home after a stay in hospital is not always easy. Trained British Red Cross volunteers offer assistance to help you return to your daily routine.
Our volunteers help you regain your independence through a service tailored to your individual needs.
Our support includes:
> taking you to appointments
> helping with shopping and light household tasks
> collecting prescriptions
> helping you to regain your confidence.
This free service is available to any adult hospital patient living in Telford and Wrekin who needs that extra bit of support for up to six weeks after going home.

Swimming after Surgery

Swimming After Surgery (SAS) is a local project in Shropshire to give ladies who have had breast cancer surgery a chance to regain their confidence by either refreshing their swimming skills or letting them learn new ones.  The sessions are for an hour on a Wednesday evening from 6.30 – 7.30 pm at Short Wood Primary School, Limekiln Lane, Wellington TF1 2JA.  Ladies are advised to telephone Fiona Smith on 01952 371941 or Mark Moore on 01952 382720 to book a place or find out further information.
